This is just too incredible. What a beautiful mind and heart you have. All i want to do is swim now that I have learned to let water have its way with me.
Thank you for reading this beautiful poem of yours. I felt like I was standing in the river allowing it to wash away all what is not needed any longer.
Now that you reflect that phrase back to me, I realise, that too was the essence of the ice sculpting. Though chainsawed out, the ice was not stolen, it was allowed to return to the source. To melt beck in to the river.
Sweet to hear, thank you Jonathan. There’s a courage growing in all this sharing, exchanging and commenting on each other’s writing. I’ve come to think of substack as my digital neighborhood :)
Your courage should be enflamed by your excellent, honest writing (and reading) that offers a glimpse into the human condition and is genuinely a pleasure to read/hear. Just saying.
But yeah, I agree, Substack can be a warm retreat :)
That was beautiful and moving. I felt the beauty and power of the ice, the river, the landscape, and also the beauty and pain of what you went through. Thank you.
Thank you Laura. It’s such a wonder isn’t it - how words can do things like transport you to the frozen river with me, back in time, in the sea of all those feelings.
So many stories within this story, all so moving in the way you honour Water, Earth, Spirit and love. Thank you .
Ah so true, stories within stories and bodies within the body of earth. Thank you Sally!

Oh to swim! I'm not (yet) a winter swimmer but I just caught from you a very strong desire to dive in. Thanks for your lovely comment Kara.

Thank you.
Such beautiful image Aleksa, of the river washing away what no longer serves. I feel the water work it's magic just reading that!
The lace fishtail water marriages, what a beautiful post Julia. and this "if it's given back, it's no longer stolen" 🙏🏼
