After teaching Moving Writing today, I sat in the studio eating my lunch, when a thud on the window behind me shocked to be out of reverie. A hawk had crashed into the glass and flew off a bit wobbly, landing for awhile in a nearby tree before taking off over the frozen brackish waters. Another messenger?
When I arrived at the clinic, you told me another miracle had occurred in your session with the physiotherapist. You sat on the bench for some minutes with your back straight, completely supporting yourself without even the neck brace to help hold your head. You sat there turning your head slowly, from side to side and up and down, all by yourself. We cried as you told me, you were feeling so proud and me too. I wish I’d been there to see you, but am so happy to see you having pride in these huge baby steps you are taking.
Today I massaged your feet so thoroughly with oil, they’ve nearly shed the last of their leather and are becoming completely soft. Your hands too, have shed all their roughness and are completely soft to touch. Your skin is becoming baby again. As I massaged you, a deer came strolling past your window right here in the middle of the Stockholm suburb.
I fed you mashed cauliflower with béchamel cheese sauce and sweet potato carrot soup. New textures and challenges to expand your horizons. Now on my way home, I’m going to pick up Esmilda at the train station.
